What We're Pinning {Soup Recipes}

With the sudden onslaught of chilly weather, sore throats and runny noses - there's only been one thing we've been pinning lately (besides loads and loads of boots) and that is soup! Nothing warms the body more after a long day than a bowl of delicious soup, wouldn't you agree? Here are a few of our must-try soups this winter.
1// How can you resist the look of those steaming mugs topped with melted, oozing chedder? We love the look of Smitten Kitchen's Roasted Tomato and Broiled Chedder soup. Yum!
2 // Needing some comfort food? Chicken Soup is for more than just the soul. Chuck some barely in and you have this delicious looking Chicken Barley Soup. A perfect mid-week dinner meal.
3 // Vegetarian or a Meat-Free Monday follower? You'll love this Ginger-Spiced Carrot Soup. Looks delicious doesn't it?
4 // French Onion soup is one soup that we've been super curious about. Why not give this  recipe a bash?
5 // Tomato Soup has to be one of our favourites (we've featured it twice here, hello!) and this recipe looks super easy to follow. We love the look of toasted sarmies served with the soup too!
6 // You can't go right with this classic Pea Soup with Bacon. It's something we make on a regular basis and it's delicious! Don't like peas? Trust us, this soup will convert you!

Our Week in Pictures {May 2013}

{Fil} No amount of rain or mud could dampen the spirits at a wedding I was at this past weekend. It was one of the most fun, love filled weddings I've been to. And with 6 hours of straight dancing my feet were so sore the next day. But it was totally worth it! Don't you just love this cake?
{Kim} Fil and I have become regular's at Umhlanga's new coffee shop, I Want My Coffee. More on that to come later on in the week!
{Fil} I've been going through old photo's on my computer in an attempt to organise my cyber space and came across some of these of my dad when he was just a few years older than I am now. These were taken in Mozambique where he was born and I love them!
{Kim} I'm finally back in South Africa and it feels so good to be home. Durban was really showing off this past weekend - a cup of coffee on the beach front was just what I needed to remind me how much I missed home.
{Fil} I spent a great day last weekend at Makaranga Gardens in Kloof. This is the perfect family outing spot, or even a great afternoon for two. The gardens are HUGE and so fun to explore. I'll definitely be popping in there again soon.
{Kim} Anyone who knows me well will know that I am not the hugest fans of dogs, but seriously, Asia has collected all the cutest one's. Look at this little Lion?! I want him!

Anthropologie {Store Crush}

As bloggers, it's only natural that we're huge fans of reading blogs. We read a lot of local blogs (CityGirl Searching, Kiss, Blush and Tell and Miss Molly being some of our favourites) and we read a pile of international blogs too (some of which we've featured here before like How About Orange and Joy the Baker). We must admit that a lot of the international blogs are bitter-sweet to read. Why? Cause of all the amazing stores they have there, that's why! Yes, we've been spoilt lately with the introduction of Top Shop and Zara onto South African shores, but we just can't get enough of shops like Urban Outfitters and Forever 21. And another huge favourite? Anthropologie. So much so that we just HAD to show you some of their things. So many of our favourite bloggers rave about this store and we can't blame them. Anthropologie is a department store selling the latest and trendiest clothing, homeware, shoes and accessories. We just love everything that they stock - take a look at some of our favourites below. What international shop do you wish would hit South African shores?
And as if all these wonderful clothes weren't enough, Anthropologie have a host of home ware items too! We're talking bedroom, kitchen and decor accessories as well as amazing stationery items too. Oh, please come to South Africa - we'll promise to love you forever!

Patterned Jeans {On Trend}

As if coloured jeans weren't the only way to spruce up your jeans wardrobe, a new trend of patterned jeans is steadily making its way into our stores. We love this playful take on a classic wardrobe item; fashion is all about having fun with your image and this trend certainly does it. Not a fan of crazy prints? Bring this trend into your wardrobe with the softer patterns like tye-dye and ombre. Don't go too crazy on the patterns though; keep it simple on your top half with plain blocks of colour. Throw a scarf on in the same colour as a colour on your jeans and you're good to go! Here are a few of our favourite finds:
1 - The Camo trend is still alive and kicking and we think these jeans are the perfect way of bringing a little bad ass into your wardrobe  Team with a plain white tea and some white trainers and you have a great day look. Add some black boots and your look has shifted from day to night.
2 - The antique floral of these jeans add that perfect feminine touch to your wardrobe. Pair these with a pretty feminine top and some nude pumps for an effortlessly chic look.
3 - This floral print is great if you're keen for a bolder take on the flower print trend. We love these as a weekend jean and think they would look great teamed up with a denim jacket
4 - If you aren't shy about patterns, then these electric geometric jeans are the ones for you. We love the deep wine red palette of these jeans - a perfect jewelled colour for winter. Shift these jeans into high gear with a trendy black blazer for a girls night out.
5 - Not a fan of pattern? These soft leopard print jeans a perfect way of subtly incorporating this look into your wardrobe. Make your top half pop with a brightly coloured top to finish off the look!

Creative Table Numbers {Inspiration}

We've been helping a few clients with different ideas for table decor and making sure everything is top top and looking beautiful. One way to bring some creativity onto your table is with your table numbers. We love some of these examples (and they're way simpler to recreate than you can imagine)!
If the rustic, natural look is what you're after, what not try some of these examples? We love the idea of moss covered numbers - perfect for grand displays. These little aloe planters look so sweet and the wooden table number looks natural and a perfect part of the decor. Old books piled up onto a table get an update with this table number. The chalkboard number is right on trend too. We love the originality of these engraved barks - gorgeous don't you think?
Keen to try something a little different for your table numbers? These examples are so easy to DIY and so effective too! The lace wrapped mason jar is a perfect piece for adding functionality to your decor - it doubles up as a table number and as a pretty light feature too! Why not theme your tables instead of giving them numbers? It opens up a world of possibility..and fun! Glass bottles are very on trend on the moment, so why not leave a message in a bottle for your guests? This is a super simple and budget friendly option, we think. Large chunky letters are starting to become really popular lately. We love this luxe-gold spray painted number, don't you?
We've always been fans of framed table numbers, they are so easy to adapt to your theme of wedding. Having a glam vintage inspired wedding? Then an ornate, silver frame will look beautiful on your table. If you're after something more shabby chic, nothing is better than a white-washed frame. Add a spot of colour with your frame backing, and you have a winner. We love the 'open framed' look of glittery number four. It appears to be floating - perfect for a modern and glitz day. Keep it simple with handwritten table numbers in white on kraft - it's bang on trend and so pretty!
